Water should not be taken in any of these situations

Water is a tasteless, odourless and colourless liquid. Water is composed of chemical elements such as oxygen and hydrogen. And they exist in three forms, namely; solid, liquid and gaseous form. Water they say is life, our body can last longer without food than without water. We are advised to take eight (8) glasses of water in a day. This is because our body is 60% water.

Despite it’s necessity, there are 5 occasions were we shouldn’t drink water.

1. When You Have Already Drunk Excess

There is a saying that too much of everything is bad. Drinking excess water can lead to fluid overload in the body and imbalance in the body. It can also reduce the sodium levels in the body, which may further lead to nausea, vomiting, cramps and fatigue.

2. When You Have A Completely Clear Urine

Don’t drink water if your urine is completely clear. This is because clear urine is a sign of excess water in the body.

3. Before or When Having A Meal

Drinking water in between meals is wrong because it can affect the digestion process of the food in the body and make it uncomfortable. Also taking a large quantity of water before a meal reduces the amount of calories you can take into your body.

4. During Exercise or Work-Out

Water should not be drank during work out or exercise because it can cause depletion of the electrolytes in the body. It is recommended that we drink water only after our exercise. Drinking water during exercise can also lead to headache or nausea.

5. To Digest or Wash Down A Spicy Food.

Don’t drink water after eating a food that contains too much pepper or a spicy food. This is because of capasacin which is responsible for the burning sensation. Capsaicin is a non-polar molecule, it can be dissolved only by other non-polar substances such as milk. While water is a polar molecule, drinking it will cause the capsaicin to spread round the mouth, making the situation dangerous.
