The npower beneficiaries received last stipend for the month of May. Since then, the volunteers are worried why their stipends have not been paid.
Npower beneficiaries have demonstrated, protested and called on the attention of important dignitaries in the country to come to their aid; thereby seeking for permanency, #600,000 exit package, payment of stipend and backlog payment. But it seems their cries fall on deaf ears since known of these requests have been granted.
The information reaching us as the time of compiling this report is that, the delay of payment of stipend is as result of non approval of funds by the FEC ( federal executive council). It is gathered that the ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development have no funds to pay for stipend and backlog.
Remember npower programme is one of the national social investment programmes of president Muhammadu Buhari administration. This program was introduced in 2016 with about 200000 volunteers. The batch B volunteers were engaged in 2018 with about 300000 beneficiaries.
The 500000 beneficiaries have been disengaged following the disengagement letter released by the minister of humanitarian affairs, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq. The two batches A and B were exited in the month of June and July respectively.
On the exit package, the ministry are still making efforts as to what the exit package will be.
